On behalf of North Brooklyn Community Boathouse and Broadway Stages, we are pleased to invite you to attend a press conference and groundbreaking celebration formally announcing construction of the new permanent home for your community boathouse. The press conference will be held on Saturday, November 5, at 2:30 p.m., at 51 Ash Street brooklyn NY 11222 (the old boatyard and future boathouse. Afterward, please join us for a celebration at Greenpoint Beer & Ale, 1150 Manhattan Ave. between Ash and Box Streets. Our new boathouse is made possible through a grant from the Newtown Creek Environmental Benefits Fund (NCEBF), which is funded by New York State and administered by the City Parks Foundation, and by Broadway Stages’ contribution of several hundred thousand dollars toward construction and the cost of the land beneath the project. NBCB is also indebted to all our members and Volunteers part and present, especially those who have taken on leadership roles both in programming and governance. Our founding president, Dewey Thompson, and the community activist Christine Holowacz, in particular, are owed thanks as both continue to work on our behalf while construction continues. If you haven't been past the site lately, the building is getting up to the second floor and is expected to be completed next year. Some of our local elected officials will attend the press conference, and there will be a few short speeches. It will be a chance for the NBCB community to see each other and celebrate together a little. We genuinely hope you can make it. It's OK to bring nonmember friends, please just let us know so we can have enough food on hand. Please, do let us know if you can attend? Members, please register on the NBCB calendar. If you have any questions, please send to patterson.beckwith@northbrooklynboatclub.org. Thanks! Erica and Patterson Copresidents NBCB
