KAYAK: Let's Visit Astoria Park (Hell's Gate)

  • Registering as a Kayak Paddler. Make sure you've been assessed for the skill level of this trip before registering.
  • Only select this if you have been assessed as a NBCB Kayak Trip Assistant.

This is still a Winter Paddle.  Our goal is to reach Astoria Park, depending on how we all feel and perform.  Air temperature 60 degrees, water 50 degrees, and winds under 10 knots. Bring something to drink, and a snack.

  • Skill level: Intermediate (see what this means here)
  • Meet:  07:45 AM sharp at Gotham Point 1-15 57th Ave, Queens. End of 2 Street
  • Launch Kayaks: 08:00 AM
  • Slack at Hell's Gate: 09:16 AM and the Ebb begins
  • Return: 11:00 AM
  • Release: 11:15 AM

Dress to get wet, bring water, a snack, etc. Avoid jeans or other heavy cotton clothing.
