O North Brother, Where Art Thou?

Forecast: 51 degrees and sunny!   Up through Hell Gate on the flood to explore North Brother Island, former smallpox quarantine/tuberulosis hospital, where Typhoid Mary was exiled and died, where the steamship General Slocum, ablaze, grounded and left bodies washed up on the shore, experimental (and spectacularly failed) drug rehab for teens, now haunting/haunted ruins.   

Will require extensive rigorous paddling.  Bring lunch.

  • Skill level:  Strong Intermediate (see what this means here)
  • Prerequisites: Winter Paddler training + membership
  • 9:15 am - Meet at Queen's Landing
  • 10 am - Launch
  • High slack at South Brother Island: 10:51am
  • 2:00pm - Release
