Nelson Mandela's birthday is this week, so let's celebrate his incredible life with a paddle to the UN. We will meet at the end of Manhattan Ave for a short canoe paddle over to our sea kayaks and sit on top kayaks. We'll cover the paddling basics on land and then launch into the creek for an adventure! We'll paddle out to the mouth of Newtown Creek and gaze across the East River at the United Nations, who designated July 18th as "Mandela Day" back in 2009.
Dress to get wet, bring water, a snack, etc. Avoid jeans or other heavy cotton clothing.
