KAYAK: Beginner: Sunset at Anable Basin

  • Select this option if you are ready to take the Intermediate Assessment. See our website for all the requirements for going on Intermediate trips.
  • Only select this if you have been assessed as a NBCB Kayak Trip Assistant.

We will take a very short canoe trip to the launch from Manhattan Ave Street End Park (MASE) (yes, a 2-Boat paddle!). We'll then prep the kayaks and launch from the Ash St boatyard.

We'll then head out from the mouth of Newtown Creek and head East into the East River towards Anable Basin where we'll take a break, practice skills, and enjoy the sunset before heading back.

  • Meet:  5:30 PM sharp at Manhattan Avenue Street-End Park
  • Launch Kayaks: 6:15 PM
  • Slack: 6:51 PM and the Ebb begins
  • Return: 8:15 PM
  • Release: 9:00 PM

  • What to wear and bring

Dress to get wet, bring water, a snack, etc. Avoid jeans or other heavy cotton clothing.

This trip is intended for beginners by which we mean those who have never kayaked, those working on skills towards intermediate and those who may have skills but haven't yet paddled with us and gotten assessed.
