  • Select this option if you're an intermediate/advanced Kayaker that hasn't yet been assessed by a NBCB Trip Leader. You will need to demonstrate a wet exit and assisted rescue on this trip.
  • Only select this if you have been assessed as a NBCB Kayak Trip Assistant.

Intro to Sea Kayaking in Decked Boats

After a short canoe paddle to our kayak launch on Newtown Creek. we'll cover the basics of kayaks, safety and gear. Then get on the water to learn and practice paddle strokes. Once comfortable we'll dip our toes into the East River to take in views of Hunters Point South Park.

NOTE: No assessments on this trip as it will be geared toward building skills.

Dress to get wet, bring water, a snack, etc. Avoid jeans or other heavy cotton clothing.
