Being able to get back in your boat quickly and efficiently is an essential safety skill for intermediates.  It will make you a more confident and safer paddler!

We're going to have fun down in Bushwick Inlet.  We'll cover the basics of rescuing and being rescued.  Once everyone gets the hang of it, we might even time ourselves and see if we can do it in under 60 seconds!

  • For intermediates ( especially those who recently graduated from beginner! ), this is an excellent opportunity to get used to participating efficiently in an assisted rescue.

  • For TLs and TAs this a chance to refresh your rescuing skills and build up that muscle memory for quickly getting a paddler back in their boat!

We encourage everyone to get wet.  It will be fun and safe.  We anticipate warm weather and warmer water temperatures by July 1st.  We ask that you don't wear any cotton, and also bring a change of clothes.  We'll have extra layers available on hand in case anyone gets cold.

Topics:

  • Standard deep water rescue ( "T" rescue )
  • Toggle Tow rescue
  • Bow rescue (optional)
