Nature Journaling focuses on the appreciation of nature. Anyone with a love of nature can participate; no experience is necessary. All you need is paper, a pencil and your curiosity.

11:45 Long Island City Meet Location: Base of the Pulaski Bridge in LIC
Noon: Brooklyn Meet Location: Corner of Monitor & Nassau at McGolrick Park
12:20 Midspan of the pedestrian & bike path on the Kosciusko Bridge 30 minutes to sketch in your nature journal.
1 pm Kingsland Ave Entrance to the Newtown Creek Nature Walk - Please bring a bike lock, lunch or a snack if you like. Sketch and lunch 1 hour Brief talk about the history of Newtown Creek.
2:15 Rest stop at LIC Landing for public restrooms
2:30 Overlook of Salt Marsh Restoration Area of Hunters Point Park 1 hour sketch in your nature journal. time. Brief talk about salt marshes, tides and currents.
3:30 Optional - Head to LIC Landing for beers and to share what you drew in your nature journal.
Minimum supplies to bring: Paper/sketchpad/nature journal and pencil. Suggested to bring: fine liner markers, travel watercolor kit, colored pencils, binoculars.
NOTE: Bike at your own risk. Please obey all bike safety rules and wear a helmet. We will bike on city streets sometimes with car traffic, using bike lanes whenever possible.
Bring a bike lock.
Moderate pace, mostly flat with one bridge with an elevation of 120 ft and two small bridges.
