Help! We need to move the Sit-on-Top Kayaks to Kingsland Ave!

And/or end of season clean up!

A lot is going on at the boatyard and we could use your help!

To accommodate some upcoming construction at the boatyard, we're moving all the sit-on-top boats over to 520 Kingsland Ave this Saturday (a short creek trip from the boatyard).

We're looking for at least 12 volunteers to paddle the boats over and help store them for the winter.  We'll then walk our paddles and PFDs back to Ash Street. If you can stick around, we may do some inventory and clean up, but that is optional.

Note: There is NO dock at the Kingsland Ave bulkhead, just a metal ladder so we're looking for intermediate paddlers. You'll have to get out of the SOT by holding onto the ladder. The boats will be pulled up with bow lines and there will be people on land to help. The canoe committee does this storage trip every year so it's very do-able, you just need to be careful.

Also, Right now the boatyard is all dirt and can get muddy. People may want to consider wearing boots on the yard or shoes you don't mind getting dirty.  And, you’ll get wet in sit on tops, you may want to wear dry gear or bring a change of clothes. There is no longer a hose at the yard, so there's no place to wash off, but we may be able to use the facilities at Kingsland Ave. Apparently, the port a potty is still at the yard.

We will meet at the boatyard at 10:30am.

Need to get to Kingsland by 12pm.

I'm not sure how long this will all take, prepare for a few hours.

If you're interested register on the calendar or email nbbckayak@gmail.com. This can count towards your volunteer hours.

And feel free to email any questions.

Thanks!
