Biology/Art:Local Flora/Intro to Botanical Illustration

Learn about the local flora found in waterfront parts, with a focus on the flowers. Then we'll delve into the art of scientific and botanical illustration.

We'll start with a 10 minute slideshow introduction before  discussing materials and starting on some warm up drawing exercises. Eventually, working on a crocus flower illustration or the flora of your choice.

Use any medium you prefer that allows for detailed work.- even just a plain pencil and copy paper.   (Most drug stores sell colored pencils and watercolor kits for less then $10, a great way to get started!)

All skill levels welcome. Perfect for expanding your art skills.

The demo will be done using drawing pencils, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, gouache, and watercolor.
