Trip Planning: Theory & Practice

90 minutes with a brief break about midway between the two topics.

Join us whether you're an Official Paddler* looking to refresh your knowledge, working toward Official Paddler assessment, or just interested to up your local nautical know-how.

The East River is a tidal strait with fast and  dangerous currents.....if you don't know how and when to handle them.

Part 1:  We'll learn about tides and tidal currents, with a special focus on those in our area. Discussion on how moon phases and even the weather can affect currents. Using the 50-90 rule, understanding various charts, apps, and lingo.

Part 2:  We'll actually plan trips, troubleshoot different locations and conditions. I'll try to stump you with difficult dates & times.
