Die Hard: The Canoeing Creek Trip

  • Skill level: Advanced-ish (see what this means here): Paddling technique is less important but you should be able to dress for cold-weather paddling, get ready quickly, and have rescue training
  • Meet: 12:30 PM
  • Launch: 12:45 PM
  • Low tide: 1:56 PM
  • Return: 2:30 PM
  • Release: 2:45 PM
  • Trip leader: Michael / mr.haskell at evil old Gmail
  • What to wear and bring: But even more so! Dress in layers of warm clothing. NO COTTON. Temp. is forecast for 45F, which gets cold after a little time! Dress warm!

It's Mandatory Die Hard Viewing Day Eve! "Come out to the coast, we'll get together, have a few laughs ..." -- and go canoeing on Newtown Creek for a couple of hours. Yippee kai-ay!

I can't stress enough how important dressing appropriately is for this. Hopefully the sun will stay out, but be prepared!

With a low tide, we should be able to go into Dutch Kills. Last time, there were a couple of black-crowned night herons hanging out. There's also been a small flock of buffleheads on the creek, North America's cutest (and therefore most deserving of our love) duck.

Mandatory Die Hard Viewing Day Eve! Let's spend it on the creek!

"'And when Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept, for there were no more worlds to conquer.' Benefits of a classical education."

Now I have a canoe. Ho. Ho. Ho.
