It has become impossible to deny: fall is here. And so it's time to put away our big Langley canoes until next spring, following their first season of excellent work!

But first, of course, we paddle!

We'll meet at MASE Park and gear up and then see where the day takes us. Maybe we'll head down the creek and see what fall colors have come to the Turning Basin and whether any of the winter birds -- buffleheads, mergansers, loons -- have arrived. Or maybe we'll head up the river to Hallets or Annable and come back as close to high tide as possible.

We will plan on being at the bulkhead at 520 Kingsland as close to high tide as we can, and we'll take the boats out and store them for the season. We need help for this -- eager hands and goodwill required!

We'll walk back to the park to store the paddles and gear and plan on food and drinks to follow somewhere warm!

Paddlers of all skill levels are welcome, but experienced big canoe paddlers should come out and help put away the boats.

This task has to be done soon, so a less-pleasant rain date is November 16, with high tide 11:18 AM. Hope for clear skies November 2!
