Queens beckons! Its mysterious shoreline, its quiet basins, its tiny beaches, sculpture parks, and Costco snack bars!

Once again, we gird our loins in noncotton cloth and prepare to fight the forces of capital that we might carve out a little bit of peace and contemplation! It's Labor Day!

For this after-work trip we'll see how far we can go into Queens before the current turns us back. If there's a lot of ferry traffic, maybe we'll just go to Anable Basin and sit around and watch the world go by for a little while. If we make good time, we'll head to Hallets Cove and have a wet-foot landing  to explore the nearby area before riding the ebb current home.

We can take some less-experienced paddlers who have yet made intermediate trips.

Depending on the conditions and the crew, maybe we will do some rescue training. But no one has to get wet who doesn't want to. If you are interested in rescue training, make sure to wear clothes that can get wet. And no matter what, wear shoes that can

Let's make it the theme of the summer, friends:

"Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing  -- absolutely nothing  -- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."

So let's do that.
