Kayaking. Indoors. In a pool.
Saturday January 27th
5pm-8pm
It's a large indoor pool which NYKP (New York Kayak Polo) uses to play kayak polo. They have all the equipment and gear necessary. Remember to bring a change of quick-drying clothing, some sandals/booties, and a towel.
It'll be a good three-hour introductory session--slower-paced, and they'll be folks on-hand to offer help with bracing, rolling, and wet-exits (see their website below).
If you take trips and have never capsized/wet-exited, a pool is a great opportunity to work out the kinks. And if any NBBC TLs happen to be at the session, they can witness your capsize/wet-exit antics, which is meaningful info when assessing paddlers for NBBC trips!
Our friends at NYKP are generous to offer this session for no charge. Space is limited to about 8 people, so RSVP below (and please, keep the date).
Location is St. Peter's University in Jersey City (everyone normally coordinates car-pooling closer to the date, and contributes a few bucks towards Holland Tunnel toll & gas.)
It's a social Saturday, so afterwards we'll aim to hit up a local, decently-priced Indian restaurant (there are many good ones around "Little India," which is nearby to the university).
