To go farther afield in a canoe, you'll want to get your basics nice and solid. Come to a short and sweet Skills and Drills this Sunday during one of the cooler parts of the day.

We'll start with on-land instruction and then head out to a sheltered spot on the Creek for additional on-water instruction and practice. Draw, pry, sweep, forward, reverse, bow draw, and J-stroke are some strokes that we may cover, time allowing, and we'll talk about things like trim and wind and how it affects the boat.  We'll practice different ways (from both bow and stern) to move the boat in a straight line, go backward, and turn the boat and discuss the pros and cons of different methods of maneuvering.

Go into your next trip with increased knowledge and confidence about your canoe handling!
