This is a paddle skills-building and rescue exercise trip meant for Trip Assistant and general member training.

We'll travel with current to the mouth of Bushwick Inlet, do some short, intensive paddle skill drills (to make the dunk seem more attractive), then several tandem canoe rescues.  Come dressed to swim and with a dry bag, or only items that can get wet.  A towel and especially a complete change of clothes for after are highly recommended!

We will try to have a "dry boat" if there are enough sign-ups, in which case you can possibly opt out of the rescues and/or keep some items dry.  We'll be able to use our outdoor shower after to rinse off if desired, and get warm by a fire as well.

"Advanced" for this trip means you have paddled with NBBC before - ideally on river trips, you have reasonable control over a canoe regarding steering and maneuvering strokes, and are willing to be a little tough about repeated capsizes.  Ask if you aren't sure!

Slack before flood predicted at 6:21 pm.  A tight schedule regarding current, this trip requires on-time arrival!

Meet promptly by 5:45 latest, leave 6PM, rescues from 6:30-7:15, return to NBBC around 8-8:30PM

This trip will be adjusted in the event of rain beforehand (CSO events.)  We'll still go out and have a paddle practice if the weather is nice; if the water isn't, we won't get in,  do drills and watch the sunset instead.
