CANCELLED DUE OT WEATHER. KAYAK: Practice Paddle for Decked Kayaks

This Practice Paddle is geared to those ready to transition into a decked boat and those already comfortable in a decked boat who would like to practice their skills.  Also, appropriate for those interested in becoming trip assistants.

This not for absolute beginners, you should have kayaked before.

We will kayak against the current to try to reach Bushwich Inlet.

Some of the skills we'll review include:

• Prepare self & gear
• Put boat in & take out of water unassisted
• Get in and out of boat unassisted
• Forward stroke, backward stroke, stop and turns
• How to help if there is a capsize or other emergency
• Lead & sweep, gather & stop signals
• We may review towing,if time allows
